Stripe is hiring Software Engineer Interns in Bengaluru

Stripe is looking for ambitious student builders. Its University team is hiring Software Engineer Interns in Bengaluru, where you'll work as a full member of the team and ship real production software.

Role Overview

  • Role: Software Engineer, Intern
  • Team: University
  • Location: Bengaluru, India
  • Pay and benefits: Not listed on the posting

Stripe notes that its internship program is competitive and expectations are high. Most office-assigned roles are expected to spend at least 50% of each month in the local office or with users; the hiring manager will discuss specifics.

Responsibilities

  • Participate fully in team discussions, decisions and technical design.
  • Write production software with meaningful impact on Stripe's business and users.
  • Give and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Learn quickly, ask good questions, communicate status clearly and use the latest AI tools.

Past intern projects include expanding Payments Foundation Model capabilities for anomaly detection, building approachable fraud controls, creating safer payouts, and tools that prevent pricing mistakes and simplify merchant checkout setup.

Requirements

  • Strong CS fundamentals, while pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in computer science, math or a related field.
  • Programming experience from side projects or coursework. Stripe mainly uses Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go and Scala, but new languages can be learned.
  • Experience from internships or multi-person projects (including open source) showing you act on feedback.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship.
  • Ability to use AI tools to speed up development while critically validating their output.

Preferred: at least one year of university education, specialization in frontend, backend or infrastructure, high-quality pull requests with good test coverage, navigating new multi-language codebases, and clear written communication.

How to apply for this role

Our general advice for applying to any opening like this one, written by the Hirecept team.

  1. 1

    Read the full posting first

This page is our summary. Stripe's own posting is the source of truth for requirements, pay, location and deadlines, so read it in full before you decide to apply.

  2. 2

Match your résumé to three requirements

Pick the three requirements you meet best and make sure each one is visible in your résumé with a concrete example: what you built, ran or improved. Move the most relevant experience or project to the top. Keep it to one page unless you have many years behind you.

  3. 3

Write a short note if there is a place for one

Three or four sentences are enough. Say which part of the role you can already do, give one piece of proof, and say why this company. Skip the long cover letter and the generic opening line.

  4. 4

    Apply on Stripe's own site

Use the Apply Now link below. It opens the employer's own application page. Fill every field, attach a PDF named with your name, and keep a screenshot or the confirmation email.

  5. 5

Track it and follow up once

Note the date, the role and the link in a simple sheet. If you hear nothing for about a week, one polite follow-up is fine. Meanwhile, start preparing, because interview calls can come at short notice.

If you are a fresher or student

Without work history, projects, coursework, hackathons and club roles are your evidence. Put two or three of them first, with a link a recruiter can open in seconds. Be ready to explain every skill you list, because early-career interviews lean on fundamentals and how you think through a problem.

Stay safe

A genuine employer never asks you to pay to apply, interview or join, and never needs your bank PIN or OTP. If anything about this listing looks wrong, email [email protected]. More in how to spot a fake job offer and how we check listings.
