About the role
MongoDB is seeking an executive public-sector leader to build the next phase of growth across Federal civilian and Defense. As General Manager, you’ll have significant autonomy to shape a more self-sufficient business by integrating Clarity’s federal engineering and modernization capabilities with MongoDB’s product and go-to-market teams, expanding our position in Defense, and establishing the partnerships, authorization strategy, talent, and operating discipline needed for sustained growth.
MongoDB acquired Clarity Business Solutions to accelerate the modernization of government applications. Clarity is a federal-focused software and systems engineering firm with expertise in data analytics, data processing, and data flow. Its team combines technical delivery capabilities with experience navigating federal missions, procurement, and security requirements. You will shape how Clarity’s people and capabilities work alongside MongoDB by aligning strategy, customer engagement, delivery, and operating practices while preserving the specialized expertise federal customers rely on.
MongoDB Atlas for Government’s pursuit of FedRAMP Certified – Class D (formerly known as FedRAMP High) expands MongoDB’s ability to support high-impact government workloads, secure AI, and mission-critical modernization across cloud environments. This is an opportunity to build on customer trust and strong executive commitment, address significant unmet demand across government, and shape a business with the ambition and resources to become a meaningful growth engine for MongoDB.
We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Washington DC for our hybrid working model.
What you will do
- Own the public-sector P&L, strategy, operating plan, and execution, with accountability for revenue, expenses, investment decisions, forecast quality, and overall performance; Establish executive-grade forecasting, pipeline inspection, P&L reviews, account and partner planning, talent reviews, and cross-functional decision mechanisms that strengthen predictability and scalable execution
- Lead and develop the Regional Directors and their sales teams, together with dedicated Finance, Sales Operations, Product, Solutions Architecture, and Customer Success resources; Set shared goals, clarify decision rights, and establish effective interfaces with MongoDB’s broader functional organizations
- Build an increasingly autonomous, high-performing public-sector entity by setting its governance, resource priorities, operating cadence, and talent systems, while applying MongoDB’s company-wide processes and the practices needed to serve government customers; Make timely decisions with substantial autonomy, create clarity as the organization evolves, and balance near-term results with long-term scale
- Integrate Clarity’s people and federal services capabilities into the public-sector business; Align strategy, leadership, accountability, customer engagement, delivery, and partner motions; clarify how Clarity works with MongoDB’s sales, Product, Solutions Architecture, Customer Success, and Security teams; and shape the organization’s reporting model and long-term end state
- Grow strategic Federal civilian relationships and expand MongoDB’s position in Defense by building trust with Department of Defense and other mission stakeholders, converting existing product usage into strategic customer relationships, and developing repeatable paths to new opportunities
- Build and scale a partner ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on systems integrators alongside resellers and other strategic partners; Create joint customer and delivery motions that extend MongoDB’s reach and support mission-relevant outcomes
- Translate Atlas for Government’s pursuit of FedRAMP Certified – Class D status (formerly known as FedRAMP High) into a clear, accurate field and customer strategy; Partner with Product, Security, Legal, Clarity, and cloud providers to address customer authorization and secure-delivery requirements without overpromising product readiness or certifications; represent MongoDB with agency executives, partners, and company leadership, and bring field insight into product and investment decisions.
What we are looking for
- 8+ years of public-sector leadership across Federal civilian and Defense customers at modern software, cloud, data, cybersecurity, or technology platform companies
- Demonstrated experience owning and managing a public-sector P&L, with accountability for revenue, expenses, growth, and investment decisions. Success leading multi-layer sales organizations and delivering strong forecasting, talent, and customer outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to build partner ecosystems including systems integrators, resellers, and alliances along with Integrating services or consulting capabilities into a product-led commercial model
- Strong executive presence and judgment to navigate complex agency ecosystems, engage internal and external leaders, and operate effectively while organizational structures evolve
- Bias for action and resilience to make difficult decisions without perfect information while maintaining a customer-first mindset
- Exceptional people leadership skills, including recruiting, coaching, succession planning, and driving high performance with integrity and trust
- Active security clearance is required, along with experience in highly regulated public-sector markets
