About the role

Our client, an established global investment management firm, is looking for a junior-to-mid-level Software Developer to join its Trading Technology team. The team supports the firm’s quantitative and discretionary trading businesses as they continue to grow.

The role mainly involves maintaining, enhancing, and supporting critical Windows client and server applications, along with contributing to new development projects. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team, working closely with fellow developers, the quantitative trading group, and other business users, and you’ll have real autonomy in how you design technical solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with developers and business users, mainly on the quantitative trading side, to gather requirements and scope projects
  • Maintain and enhance existing Windows client and server applications, and contribute to new builds
  • Review existing systems for opportunities to improve robustness and performance
  • Bring forward ideas for technical and business-side improvements
  • Write product specifications and train colleagues and users on how systems work and how to maintain them
  • Carry out unit, integration, and functional testing
  • Support business-critical pre-trade signal and order generation systems through UAT and production, with a focus on accuracy, reliability, and timely processing

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 1-5 years of software development experience. Strong recent graduates with relevant internship, academic, or project work are also encouraged to apply. Financial services experience is not required.
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills. C# is preferred, but strong Java, Python, or other modern-language developers will be considered.
  • Experience with or solid knowledge of concurrency, automated unit testing, and SQL
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with developers and business users across the full development lifecycle
  • Close attention to detail and a commitment to reliable, well-tested software
  • Nice to have: event-driven architecture or messaging, F#, or functional programming
