About the role

No 3rd party Agencies

No Sponsorship Offered.

No C2C candidates.

This is mainly a PHP developer role, not a general full-stack one. The job covers three kinds of work: building our own plugins, customizing WordPress and WooCommerce, and building tools outside WordPress that complement the site, such as Cloudflare Workers. Production site is a single WordPress/WooCommerce site serving the US, Hong Kong and the UK.

Customers bid in online auctions year-round and in live auctions in the US, Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore. Bidding runs on our .NET auction platform, which uses SignalR for real-time bidding and keeps auction data in SQL Server. The WordPress site holds customer accounts, shows auction lots alongside retail wines in search, and keeps customer and paddle data in sync with the auction platform.

Must have:

  • 5+ years of PHP (we run 8.3), WordPress and WooCommerce, including plugin development from scratch (we maintain more than 30 of our own) and customizing existing plugins and themes
  • Checkout and payment gateway work (card and ACH)
  • MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Testing and releasing their own work

Stack and plugins they will work in:

  • WooCommerce Subscriptions, Memberships, Product Bundles, Product Add-Ons, multi-currency
  • Elementor Pro on the OceanWP theme; JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • SearchWP and FacetWP for search and filtering
  • Zoho CRM, AvaTax and our .NET auction platform, connected by REST APIs and webhooks
  • Cloudflare Workers and caching
  • Redis and WP Rocket for performance
  • PHPUnit and Playwright for tests, Azure DevOps for releases, AWS hosting

Nice to have :

NET (C#) and SignalR, for work on the auction side.

On AI: they should use Claude Code every day. Experience building AI features with Claude is a plus.
