Why This Role Matters
MissionHires is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer on behalf of a seed-stage healthcare AI company building agents for front-office workflows such as patient calls, scheduling, referrals, and refills. This engineer will combine hands-on full-stack development with customer-facing implementation ownership, helping enterprise healthcare customers deploy, monitor, and improve production AI agents.
How You'll Contribute

- Own customer implementations end to end, from discovery and scoping through project planning, coordination, go-live, and ongoing optimization.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer technical teams, leading discovery sessions and resolving integration issues.
- Translate customer workflows, scheduling rules, and field feedback into technical requirements and product recommendations.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and refine AI agents in production to improve accuracy, reliability, and patient experience.
- Manage implementation timelines, project plans, internal dependencies, and customer deliverables.
- Support account growth by identifying opportunities to expand and improve deployed solutions.
- Travel approximately 10% to customer sites.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 3–6 years of professional engineering experience, including experience in a customer-facing technical role.
- Experience shipping and maintaining production software used by live customers.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, preferably with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, manage project plans, and deliver customer-facing implementations.
- Experience serving as a primary technical contact for customers and owning technical outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A clear signal of excellence, such as a strong academic background, experience at a notable VC-backed startup or scale-up, strong career progression, or meaningful technical side projects.
- Experience at an early-stage or high-growth VC-backed startup is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to work on site in New York City five days per week and travel approximately 10%.
- Must be eligible for a visa transfer if sponsorship is needed; new visa sponsorship is not available.
- Healthcare workflow, EHR integration, or related healthcare technology experience is a plus.
Perks & Benefits
- Base salary of $150,000–$200,000 per year.
- Competitive equity package.
- Opportunity to own high-impact customer implementations and shape the product roadmap.
- Work directly on production AI systems serving enterprise healthcare customers.
- Join an early-stage, well-funded company with experienced technical and healthcare-focused founders.
