Okta: The World’s Identity Company™

About Okta & The TAM Team

Okta is the leader in Identity management and The World’s Identity Company™. Our mission is to build a more secure world by providing a neutral, powerful, and extensible platform that puts identity at the heart of the modern tech stack—securing customers, employees, partners, and AI agents. Two-thirds of the Fortune 100 trust Okta to power their identity journeys.

The Technical Account Management (TAM) team is a global group of Okta product experts dedicated to driving long-term customer success. As a Senior TAM within our Strategic Workforce Identity segment, you will serve as the premier technical advisor and advocate for some of our largest enterprise customers (across Financial Services, Healthcare, Public Sector, and more), helping them elevate their technical maturity and maximize their Okta investment.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Strategic Customer Partnership & Influence

  • Trusted Advisor: Build deep, executive-level relationships, serving as the primary technical point of contact for customer identity owners and IT leadership (up to CxO).
  • Strategic Roadmapping: Architect tailored technical success plans aligned with customer business objectives to drive platform adoption and secure Okta against competitive displacement.
  • Adoption & Expansion: Guide customers in expanding their Okta footprint across critical Workforce solutions, continuously improving their overall security posture.

2. Complex Problem Resolution & Advocacy

  • Technical Escalation Lead: Independently manage and resolve highly complex customer technical escalations, collaborating with Customer Success Managers (CSMs) as needed.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify technical roadblocks, design robust mitigation plans, and drive them to resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Advocacy: Champion customer needs internally by collaborating with Okta Engineering, Product, and Support teams to influence product direction.

3. Thought Leadership & Team Enablement

  • Knowledge Sharing: Deliver workshops, best practice sessions, and vertical-specific insights to enhance customer security.
  • Asset Creation: Author repeatable technical strategies and assets to level up the global TAM organization.
  • Mentorship: Actively mentor and develop peer TAMs to upskill technical capabilities across the team.

Workforce Identity Solutions You Will Support

You will provide deep technical guidance across Okta's comprehensive Workforce Identity lifecycle:

  • IAM: SSO, Adaptive MFA, Device Access, API Access Management, Secure Partner Access, Access Gateway, and Universal Directory.
  • IGA: Lifecycle Management and Okta Identity Governance (OIG).
  • PAM: Privileged Access Management.
  • ITDR: Identity Security Posture Management and Identity Threat Protection.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Experience & Education

  • 8+ years of related professional IT experience (or 6+ years with a Master’s degree).
  • 3+ years of experience as a TAM, Technical Consultant, Solution Architect, or Product Manager.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions or related security technologies is preferred.
  • Education: BA/BS/MS in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications: Okta Certified, CISSP, or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.

Technical Mastery (Workforce Identity Focus)

  • Okta Architecture: Extensive hands-on proficiency mapping Okta feature sets to complex enterprise architectures.
  • Federation Protocols: Strong understanding of modern identity protocols (SAML 2.0, OAuth, OpenID Connect, WS-Fed).
  • Hybrid Environments: Experience integrating legacy/non-standard applications that do not support modern federation protocols.
  • Lifecycle & Provisioning: Deep knowledge of lifecycle management, automated provisioning, and integrations (e.g., SCIM, Okta Workflows, HR-driven provisioning, Active Directory).
  • SaaS Ecosystems: Familiarity deploying and securing key SaaS platforms (O365, Salesforce, Workday, Box).
  • Code Proficiency: Ability to read and modify existing quickstarts, code samples, or scripts to match customer requirements.

Communication & Leadership

  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to translate highly technical concepts into clear business outcomes for CxO-level audiences.
