Job Description

Get to Know the Team

Grab's Security Engineering team builds the tools, processes, and guardrails that help engineers move quickly and securely. We work with teams across infrastructure, backend, frontend, and mobile engineering to strengthen the software development lifecycle—from secure delivery pipelines to threat detection and reusable security capabilities. Our work supports hundreds of engineers building services used by millions of people.

Get to Know the Role

You will set the technical direction for Security Engineering and lead an organisation of approximately 15–20 engineers, including engineering managers and senior individual contributors. You will shape how security is built into everyday development, making secure choices easier through effective defaults and automation.

This is an onsite role based in Singapore, reporting to Head of Engineering. You will have the opportunity to develop security leaders and influence engineering practices across Grab.

If you want to make secure development easier at scale, we encourage you to apply.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will define and deliver a security engineering roadmap across infrastructure, backend, frontend, and mobile systems.
  • You will embed automated security checks and secure defaults into development and CI/CD workflows, reducing reliance on manual decisions.
  • You will improve the tools and observability engineers use to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats.
  • You will use generative AI and agentic development tools to help teams detect and fix security issues more efficiently, with appropriate safeguards.
  • You will lead and develop engineering managers and senior individual contributors, building a strong technical organisation of approximately 15–20 engineers.
  • You will modernise security practices in existing systems through reusable capabilities, clear standards, and adoption across engineering teams without slowing delivery.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You have at least 10 years of software or security engineering experience, including significant leadership in security engineering, platform engineering, or developer infrastructure.
  • You have led multiple engineering teams, including managers and senior individual contributors, within a large engineering organisation.
  • You have deep hands-on experience in at least one of these areas: backend platforms (such as Go, Kubernetes, or microservices), AWS cloud infrastructure, or security engineering (such as static and dynamic application security testing or penetration testing).
  • You have designed or improved secure CI/CD workflows and automated security controls across the software development lifecycle.
  • You have modernised complex existing systems while maintaining delivery and operational reliability.
  • You have guided technical designs and driven adoption of standards or platform defaults across teams—not only built tools.
  • You have experience engaging with AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, improve workflows, and contribute new ideas.
