Who this role suits

The listing does not state a required experience level here. Read the requirements in the description below and apply if they match your background.

How to prepare your application

  • Check your résumé against the listed skills (Software Engineer, Platform Engineer and Cloud Engineer) and give each one a concrete example: what you built or achieved, not just that you used it.
  • Match your résumé to the requirements in the description, using the same wording where it is honest to do so.
  • Prepare a short example for each requirement you meet, and be ready to explain any you only partly meet.
  • Read what Mosaic Pediatric Therapy publishes about its product or team, so you can say clearly why this role and this company.
  • For remote roles, show that you communicate clearly in writing and can work without close supervision.

Apply only on Mosaic Pediatric Therapy's own site. A genuine employer never asks candidates for money, deposits or bank details to apply, interview or “secure” a job. If something looks wrong, use Report a problem with this listing and we will review it. Read how we check listings.

About the role

Mosaic Pediatric Therapy provides clinic-based and home-based ABA therapy for children with autism across North Carolina and Virginia. We are growing quickly, and we build and run a growing portfolio of internal software: custom web applications, AI-assisted operational tools, agentic workflows, and integrations with a modern Azure-based Lakehouse. These systems support clinical operations, billing, credentialing, and analytics.

Our software handles protected health information (PHI) and sits in workflows where accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable. We need a senior software engineer to turn that energy into well-designed, secure, maintainable applications.

About the Role

This is a senior, hands-on software engineering role. You will design, build, ship, and maintain the internal applications and services that Mosaic runs on, and set the engineering standards for how software gets built here.

About 70% of the role is software development such as application architecture, building features end to end, APIs and integrations, testing, code review, and production support. The other 30% covers the data and platform work those applications depend on, such as data pipelines into our Azure Fabric Lakehouse, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring.

We are a Microsoft shop (Azure, Fabric, SQL Server, Microsoft 365). We care more about strong engineering fundamentals than any specific language or framework, and we want to put your expertise to work.

The role is highly cross-functional. You will work directly with the VP of Data Science, the Director of IT, and operational leaders across the business. You will also mentor internal builders who use AI-assisted development tools, helping them produce software that is safe, tested, and maintainable.

What You'll Do

Design and build internal applications. Own internal software end to end, from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Build web applications, services, APIs, and integrations with third-party systems such as our EHR, billing, and HR platforms.

Set and raise the engineering bar. Establish standards for source control, branching, code review, testing, modular design, documentation, and secure coding. Lead by example through high-quality code and thoughtful pull request reviews.

Ship AI-enabled software. Build and maintain applications and agentic workflows that use LLMs and AI services. Help internal builders using Claude Code and similar tools turn prototypes into production-grade software.

Own production reliability. Put deployment pipelines, environment management, monitoring, alerting, and incident response in place across internal systems. Debug production issues and run blameless post-incident reviews.

Support the data and platform layer. Build and maintain the pipelines that move application data into and out of our Azure Fabric Lakehouse. Contribute to cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and data models that serve both applications and reporting.

Partner with the business. Work directly with clinical, billing, credentialing, and operations leaders to turn workflow problems into well-scoped software solutions.

What We're Looking For

    Required

    • 4+ years of professional software development, building and shipping production applications
    • High proficiency in at least one modern programming language, and comfort picking up others
    • Strong software engineering fundamentals: object-oriented or functional design, modular architecture, testing (unit, integration, end to end), debugging, and Git-based workflows
    • Experience designing and building APIs, services, and web applications
    • Track record of owning software end to end, from design through production support
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment workflows
    • Experience building on a major cloud platform (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP considered)
    • Solid SQL and relational database design skills
    • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar
    • Understanding of secure coding practices and of handling sensitive or regulated data
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders
    • Experience mentoring other developers or leading code review
    • Nice to Have

      • Experience in the Microsoft ecosystem: Azure, .NET, SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Entra ID, or Power Platform
      • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines or working in Lakehouse or data warehouse environments
      • Infrastructure-as-code experience (Bicep, Terraform, or ARM)
      • Experience building applications on top of LLMs or agentic frameworks
      • Experience in healthcare, ABA, EHR/EMR, claims, or other regulated environments
      • Exposure to HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, SOC 2, or related compliance frameworks

Why This Role Matters

This role is foundational to how Mosaic builds software over the next several years. You will shape the architecture, standards, and engineering culture behind the next generation of internal applications and AI-enabled systems. Instead of owning one narrow slice, you will set the direction for how software gets built and maintained across the company.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Competitive salary based on experience
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • 401(k)
    • PTO and paid holidays
    • Remote-first flexibility
    • Equipment and tooling support
