Nature & Scope

Positional Overview

The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Senior Product Owner (Forward Deployed Product Owner – Employee Knowledge Management) on behalf of a leading financial services organization. This is a hands-on technical product ownership and solution-building engagement supporting an enterprise employee knowledge-management initiative. The selected professional will lead the design, configuration, development, and implementation of a governed platform that helps employees find and use procedures, job aids, forms, agreements, and other critical knowledge assets.

This individual contributor role combines product strategy, business analysis, advanced SharePoint Online configuration, and low-code development. The Product Owner will largely build the solution independently, with internal development support for Appian production deployment and quality assurance. The platform will support controlled publishing, tagging, ownership, approval workflows, lifecycle management, and change-impact analysis.

Role & Responsibilities

Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success:

  • Own the technical delivery backlog; translate stakeholder needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, solution specifications, and test scenarios.
  • Design, configure, and administer the employee-facing SharePoint Online portal, including content types, managed metadata, taxonomy, search, permissions, and audience-based visibility.
  • Build and configure governed content catalogs and low-code workflows for tagging, approvals, publishing, asset ownership, review cycles, notifications, and attestation tracking.
  • Develop workflow and automation capabilities using Appian and/or Microsoft Power Platform technologies, with emphasis on practical hands-on solution development.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, knowledge owners, subject-matter experts, architecture, and technology teams to map processes, clarify requirements, and resolve dependencies.
  • Create or enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting on content coverage, quality, lifecycle health, adoption, and platform effectiveness.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools where appropriate to content assessment, tagging, linking, documentation, testing, and delivery, with human review.
  • Own testing, UAT coordination, defect resolution, release readiness, documentation, and technical handoff to the permanent operating team.
  • Work within enterprise security, risk, regulatory, and audit-control requirements.
Skills & Experience

Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant product, technical, analytical, digital transformation, content management, or knowledge management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience consistent with the client’s requirements.
  • Advanced hands-on SharePoint Online configuration experience beyond basic site and page authoring, including managed metadata, term store, content types, JSON formatting, search, permissions, and visibility rules.
  • Hands-on low-code application and workflow development experience. Appian development is strongly preferred; strong Power Apps developers able to learn Appian quickly may be considered.
  • Ability to independently design, configure, build, troubleshoot, and deliver a technical solution—not solely oversee a development team.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, Agile backlog management, user stories, acceptance criteria, process documentation, testing, and release coordination.
  • Knowledge of enterprise content governance, information architecture, taxonomy, search, document lifecycle management, and controlled publishing.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Power Automate, Dataverse, Power BI data modeling and dashboards, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint JSON configuration experience.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development, Copilot Studio, agentic AI, or Appian-assisted development.
  • Experience implementing content quality standards, governance controls, accessibility practices, or audit-ready documentation.
  • Experience in regulated, financial services, institutional services, legal operations, or other document-intensive environments; banking experience is not required.
  • Appian certification is not required; demonstrated hands-on development experience is more important.

Work Arrangement: This opportunity is being recruited as an onsite position in Buffalo, NY. Candidates must be able to work onsite; relocation, if needed, is at the candidate’s expense. Occasional travel to Wilmington, DE may be requested. The engagement is not confirmed as contract-to-hire.
