About the role
The Senior Engineer - PIM delivers and supports Product Information Management (PIM) capabilities within a pod-based engineering model. Product data is the essential input to every merchandise, marketing, and digital process across Officeworks, and this role ensures that capability is delivered, proven, and supported holistically without operational handoffs between analysis, build, test, and support functions.
Serving as the senior technical authority for the PIM domain within the pod, the role takes business challenges in product data and owns them end-to-end. By setting technical standards and acting as a primary mentor, the Senior Engineer - PIM elevates team capability, protects product data model integrity, and ensures platform scalability across the broader technology ecosystem.
Essential:
- Education: Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 6+ years in enterprise software engineering, including 3+ years of hands-on technical ownership within a PIM domain.
- Platform Expertise: Proven hands-on development and configuration expertise with enterprise PIM/MDM platforms (Stibo STEP (3-5 yrs) strongly preferred).
- Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in JavaScript for business rule development.
- Data Management Concepts: In-depth understanding of master data management concepts, retail product master data lifecycles, taxonomy design, golden record creation, and attribute governance.
- Integration Skills: Practical experience designing and building interface integrations (APIs, file-based interfaces, middleware, event-driven flows) connecting PIM platforms with core enterprise ecosystems such as SAP ERP.
- Engineering Practices: Solid understanding of modern SDLC practices, version control (Git/GitHub/Azure DevOps), CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and code review standards.
- Continuous Support: Experience resolving complex incidents within ITIL-aligned incident and problem management environments, with a track record of driving root cause remediation.
- Leadership and Coaching: Demonstrated capacity to lead code reviews, establish technical standards, and mentor peer engineers within a distributed team structure.
Preferred:
- Industry Exposure: Hands-on experience within a large-scale retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods (FMCG) merchandise ecosystem.
- Modern Tooling: Experience operating in a pod-based continuous flow model using AI-assisted coding tools, automated test frameworks, and modern integration middleware.
- Professional Certifications: Stibo STEP technical certification, Agile delivery credentials, or ITIL certifications.
