Cross-training and supporting additional departmental functions may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed underwriting assessments and credit recommendations for commercial and individual borrowers, supporting lending decisions by relationship managers and credit approval committees.
- Review borrower operations and assign appropriate industry classifications to support an understanding of business activities and sector-specific risks.
- Evaluate the quality and reliability of submitted financial information to ensure it meets the Bank's documentation and audit requirements.
- Input and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documentation using the Bank's designated financial spreading systems.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis, including liquidity, leverage, profitability, cash flow, and debt service capacity, to assess repayment ability and overall credit risk.
- Evaluate new financing requests, renewals, extensions, modifications, and refinancing transactions.
- Compare borrower performance against historical results and relevant industry benchmarks, identifying trends and potential areas of concern.
- Obtain and interpret commercial credit reports, personal credit reports, business information, and other third-party financial references.
- Conduct periodic credit reviews to monitor existing lending relationships and identify changes in borrower risk profiles.
- Perform due diligence using public records, sanctions screening databases, background checks, and other available research sources.
- Request and assess banking references and other external information to supplement the credit evaluation process.
- For commercial real estate transactions, investigate public property and lien records to verify collateral standing and identify potential competing claims.
- Develop written credit presentations that clearly summarize financial findings, identify material risks, and provide objective conclusions regarding the borrower's creditworthiness.
- Research and prepare country risk assessments for international markets in which the Bank maintains lending exposure.
- Ensure all underwriting activities and credit recommendations are consistent with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and established risk management practices.
