About the role

Product Manager – Energy & Industrial Connectivity

Location: Chicago, IL. This position requires regular onsite engagement with the business and cross-functional teams.

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus bonus, commensurate with directly relevant connector/interconnect product management experience. Compensation flexibility may be available for highly qualified candidates.

A global industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Product Manager to lead the strategy, growth, and profitability of an engineered electrical and connectivity product portfolio serving oil and gas, petroleum, energy, and power generation markets.

This is a hands-on product management position with direct responsibility for product strategy, pricing, margins, inventory, product lifecycle, and commercial performance. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, sales, operations, and customers while independently driving product decisions and execution.

Relevant experience in energy-related industrial markets is essential. Candidates with backgrounds in cables, connectors, cable assemblies, electrical interconnects, power products, or closely related engineered electrical equipment are especially encouraged to apply.

This is not a software, SaaS, digital-product, or IT product management role.

What You'll Do

  • Own product strategy, positioning, roadmap, and lifecycle for an engineered electrical or connectivity product portfolio.
  • Drive pricing strategy, margin improvement, profitability, and overall commercial performance.
  • Monitor orders, demand, inventory, pricing, margins, and product performance to identify opportunities and address issues.
  • Identify new product and market opportunities within oil and gas, energy, petroleum, power generation, and related industrial markets.
  • Partner with engineering on new product development, technical requirements, product improvements, and application-specific solutions.
  • Work directly with sales teams, customers, distributors, and channel partners to understand technical applications and market needs.
  • Analyze competitive products, market trends, customer requirements, and product performance to guide portfolio decisions.
  • Lead product launches, training, sales enablement, and market-development initiatives.
  • Make independent commercial and product decisions while balancing technical requirements, customer needs, profitability, and business priorities.
  • Proactively manage cross-functional projects and drive initiatives through completion with minimal oversight.

What You'll Bring

  • Product management experience with an industrial manufacturer or OEM serving oil and gas, petroleum, energy, power generation, or closely related markets.
  • Experience managing engineered physical products, ideally including cables, connectors, cable assemblies, electrical interconnects, power products, or related electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of pricing, margins, profitability, product lifecycle, and portfolio performance.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering and technical teams on product development, improvements, and customer applications.
  • Understanding of industrial customers, distributors, OEM relationships, and technical sales channels.
  • Ability to translate market requirements and customer feedback into actionable product strategy and commercial decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound technical and commercial judgment.
  • Proven ability to independently manage product lines, prioritize competing demands, and drive cross-functional execution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, sales, operations, marketing, and leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline preferred.
