About the role

Job Description Job Description Our client is a private equity-backed company composed of 20+ brands that provide online printing services and marketing materials for small and medium-sized businesses. They have an incredible culture with flexible working hours, a rockstar leadership team, and an all-hands-on-deck philosophy with an emphasis on teamwork. They are seeking a Product Design & UX Lead to shape the next generation of online shopping experiences across their portfolio of brands. Equal parts design leader and hands-on practitioner, this person will grow and coach the UX/UI team while personally driving research, journey mapping, interaction flows, and prototyping. Partnering with product, engineering, marketing, brand, customer experience, support, and analytics, they will turn customer insight and business goals into simple, cohesive experiences with measurable results, and help move the design practice away from one-off feature work toward ownership of the complete customer journey.

This is a remote role, and candidates may be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities:

- Build, coach, and grow a team of UX/UI designers, offering hands-on direction, regular critique, and a culture of creativity, ownership, and steady improvement
- Serve as a working design leader who takes on the highest-impact research, interaction design, and prototyping work while guiding the broader team
- Introduce updated design standards, critique processes, and team practices that raise both the quality of the work and its effect on customer outcomes
- Own experience design across the full online buying journey, from browsing and product setup to artwork creation, checkout, and the post-order experience
- Produce wireframes, interaction flows, and prototypes that turn customer needs and business goals into easy-to-use experiences on desktop and mobile
- Plan and run customer interviews, usability studies, and journey-mapping sessions to clearly define pain points before solutions are designed
- Draw on voice-of-customer data, NPS, support ticket trends, behavioral analytics, and test results to pinpoint friction and guide design choices
- Team with product managers to find opportunities to lift conversion, engagement, and satisfaction, and support A/B tests that validate design ideas with real evidence
- Refresh and expand a shared design system of reusable components and patterns that creates consistency across multiple brands while preserving each brand's distinct identity
- Advocate for accessibility, responsive design, and usability best practices, and work with engineering to make sure designs are feasible and built as intended
- Take part in product planning, prioritization, and roadmap conversations, building a feedback loop that connects research, design, delivery, and customer support insights
- Explore ways AI can improve product discovery, personalization, design assistance, and conversational shopping, and help define intuitive experiences for AI-enabled tools

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, required
- 6-8+ years in UX, UI, or product design, including time spent leading or mentoring other designers
- Strong track record designing customer-facing e-commerce sites or digital products
- Hands-on skill in interaction design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
- Experience planning customer research and turning the findings into design decisions
- Solid grasp of mobile-first and responsive design principles
- Comfort using analytics, customer insights, and experimentation, including A/B testing and conversion rate optimization, to improve experiences
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and other current design tools
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders across product, engineering, and marketing
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities and a fair amount of ambiguity
- Experience with complex product-configuration or purchasing flows, multi-brand design systems, AI-assisted design tools, or e-commerce for printing, packaging, or manufactured goods is a plus

Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $130-165k
