About the role
Huckleberry started as a handful of weekend breakfast pop-ups at Rustic Canyon. Since 2009 it has been a Santa Monica neighborhood favorite: a bakery, cafe and market built around what’s fresh at the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market.

We’re looking for a line cook who takes pride in a perfect plate and in being someone the team can count on during a rush.
What you’ll do
- Cook eggs, meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot items to our recipes and standards
- Prep and portion ingredients before service so your station is ready to go
- Plate and garnish every dish the way it’s meant to look
- Keep your station stocked so service runs smoothly
- Keep your station clean and sanitary, including the flat top, sauté burners, convection oven and refrigeration
- Store, label and rotate product correctly
- Help with prep during slower stretches
- Open and close stations using our checklists, and help teammates do the same
What we’re looking for
- Line experience, or a strong prep background and eagerness to learn the line (adjust to your minimum)
- Speed without cutting corners
- Close attention to detail and consistency
- Clear, respectful communication with your teammates
- Solid knowledge of food safety, sanitation and personal hygiene
- A current California Food Handler Card
- Reliable attendance and availability (weekends, holidays, early mornings: confirm)
The physical side
This is an on-your-feet job: standing for a full shift, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Kitchens are hot, loud and fast. Some shifts may run long when the day calls for it.
