About the role
Bar Baserri is a Spanish restaurant and wine bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, bringing the spirit of northern Spain to the neighborhood through thoughtfully prepared food, an all-Spanish wine list, and warm hospitality. Our menu features tapas, seafood, meats, and Spanish charcuterie, with Basque influences and plates made for sharing.
We’re looking for a line cook who takes pride in their work, cares about consistency, and enjoys being part of a team. You’ll play an essential role in our kitchen, from preparing your station for service to making sure every dish leaves the pass with care and attention to detail.
If you’re passionate about cooking, interested in Spanish cuisine, and ready to contribute to a kitchen that values quality, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, we’d love to meet you.
What you’ll do
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes, portioning guidelines, and presentation standards
- Set up, stock, and break down your station, ensuring prep and mise en place are ready for service
- Communicate with the chef and fellow cooks to coordinate timing and maintain quality during busy services
- Monitor ingredient quality and prep levels, flagging shortages early and helping minimize waste
- Follow proper food handling, labeling, storage, and rotation practices, and communicate clearly about allergies and dietary requests
- Keep your station, equipment, and shared kitchen spaces clean and organized throughout each shift
- Support daily prep, kitchen cleanup, and your teammates as needed
What you bring
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally working the line
- Solid knife skills and an understanding of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen sanitation
- An interest in Spanish cooking; experience with Spanish or Basque cuisine is a plus
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- The ability to stay organized, manage multiple tickets, and work efficiently during busy service
- A team-first attitude, clear communication, and a willingness to learn and take feedback
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts
