About the role

Explosive Ordnance Technician, Missile and Solid Rocket Motor Assembly

Innovative Rocket Technologies (iRocket) | Sierra Blanca, Texas (Rapid Energetics Campus, REC-1) | Full-time | On-site

Position overview

iRocket is hiring Explosive Ordnance Technicians to assemble, integrate, inspect and produce advanced missile systems, solid rocket motors (SRMs) and other defense energetic systems at our Rapid Energetics Campus (REC-1) in Sierra Blanca, Texas, and at other iRocket sites. You will work directly on next-generation technologies supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and allied military customers across air, land and naval platforms.

You will work hands-on with energetic materials and ordnance in designated production areas, following engineering drawings and technical work instructions, and working closely with engineering, manufacturing, testing and quality teams. This is a role for people who take safe handling and precision seriously and want to help build America’s domestic missile and rocket motor production capacity.

What you will do

  • Assemble, integrate and install components of solid rocket motors, missiles and aircraft- and ship-launched weapon systems
  • Handle energetic materials and explosive ordnance in designated production environments, following established safety protocols
  • Operate specialized assembly equipment and tooling
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, technical work instructions and process documentation
  • Inspect work at each stage and complete quality assurance checks to meet military specifications
  • Record production data accurately and flag non-conformances promptly
  • Support production and testing activities, including at remote test and production areas
  • Follow explosives safety rules, hazardous-material handling requirements, personal protective equipment standards, and applicable Department of Defense and federal regulations
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing, test and quality teams to meet schedules and specifications

What we are looking for

  • Experience in at least one of: explosive ordnance handling, missile assembly, solid rocket motor manufacturing, military weapons maintenance, aerospace manufacturing or defense production
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and work from drawings
  • Commitment to safe handling procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Comfort in a fast-paced industrial environment, and ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Eligibility to work in the United States, and ability to satisfy applicable export-control and security requirements, including a background check

Preferred

  • Prior military experience as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, Aviation Ordnanceman, Missile Technician or Ammunition Specialist
  • Experience as a defense industry ordnance technician
  • Experience with solid rocket motor casting, propellant handling, or motor and warhead integration
  • Training in explosives safety and hazardous-material handling
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical, aerospace or related fields

Working conditions

  • On-site at a remote defense manufacturing campus
  • Work in designated explosives production areas with required protective equipment
  • Standing, lifting and other physical work

Why join

You will play a direct role in expanding America’s domestic missile and solid rocket motor manufacturing, and in establishing REC-1 as a major center for rapid defense production and advanced energetics manufacturing.
