We are an investment banking firm where experience matters, ideas are valued, and people make a meaningful impact. Position Summary

HJ Sims is seeking a highly analytical and business-minded professional to help transform how data is collected, organized, analyzed, and leveraged across the firm. This role will serve as a shared resource supporting Investment Banking, Wealth Management, and other corporate functions, with responsibility for developing meaningful insights from a wide variety of internal and external data sources.

Reporting to the Head of Enablement and Transformation, the successful candidate will help establish a stronger foundation for enterprise data governance, reporting, and analytics while creating dashboards, visualizations, and business development materials that enable better decision-making and support firm growth. This individual must be comfortable working independently, partnering with stakeholders throughout the organization, and bringing new ideas and best practices to improve how data is managed and utilized.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Management

  • Maintain and improve enterprise datasets related to clients, transactions, prospects, business development activities, and market intelligence.
  • Develop processes to improve data quality, consistency, accuracy, and governance across multiple systems.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate data sources and create more efficient reporting structures.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to define and prioritize data needs.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Design and develop dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting using business intelligence and visualization tools.
  • Analyze business performance trends, pipeline activity, client relationships, market opportunities, and transaction data.
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting for senior management and business leaders.
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable insights and recommendations.

Business Development & Marketing Support

  • Create data-driven materials that support client outreach, RFP responses, prospecting efforts, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Develop market intelligence reports, industry benchmarking analyses, and business development insights.
  • Partner with bankers and corporate teams to identify opportunities hidden within existing data.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Recommend and implement new approaches to data collection, reporting, and analytics.
  • Evaluate emerging tools and technologies, including AI-enabled analytics capabilities.
  • Support cross-functional projects involving CRM systems, financial systems, and data integration initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Experience using business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce), databases, and reporting platforms.
  • Experience in technology integration, automation, or AI-enabled workflows.

You Might Be a Great Fit If…

  • You’re naturally curious. You don’t just want to know what the numbers say. You want to understand why they say it, what’s driving them, and what else we might learn from them.
  • You genuinely like working with people. This isn’t a heads-down analytics job where you disappear into a spreadsheet or system all day. You enjoy understanding what people are trying to accomplish and helping them use data to get there.
  • You notice the details. An inconsistency, an outlier, or something that just doesn’t look right tends to catch your eye. Accuracy matters to you.
  • You like making messy things make sense. Give you information from multiple sources, and your instinct is to organize it, connect the dots, and turn it into something useful.
  • You can tell a story with data. You know that a great analysis isn’t particularly valuable if no one understands what it means. You can turn complexity into something clear, visual, and actionable.
  • You’re always looking for what could be better. A new tool, a smarter process, an overlooked dataset, a different way to visualize something. You’re excited by the possibility of improving how things work.
