We bring together materials science, engineering, and manufacturing to build the next generation of energy storage and strengthen American manufacturing.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Battery Assembly Technician to support the production, assembly, and testing of electrical components and battery systems. This is primarily a hands-on assembly line position, suited to someone who enjoys structured production work, follows standardized processes, and consistently meets safety, quality, and output requirements.

The ideal candidate also brings technical skills to work confidently with automated equipment, troubleshoot basic electrical and process issues, and use scripting languages such as Python to support testing, data collection, and production improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily assembly line tasks, including component installation, electrical connections, battery assembly, inspection, and testing, according to approved work instructions.
  • Maintain consistent workmanship and production pace while following safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Operate and monitor automated assembly equipment, test stations, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).
  • Recognize equipment faults, process deviations, and product defects; perform authorized troubleshooting and escalate issues when needed.
  • Use electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, to verify connections and support troubleshooting.
  • Run existing Python scripts and, as skills and authorization allow, make basic modifications to support testing, production data collection, or repetitive tasks.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to investigate recurring issues and improve assembly processes.
  • Accurately document production results, test data, defects, and corrective actions.
  • Follow applicable battery handling, electrical safety, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and equipment isolation procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and support continuous improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, electrical production, battery production, or a related hands-on technical environment.
  • Comfort with assembly line work as the primary day-to-day responsibility, including repetitive tasks, standardized work, and production targets.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, connectors, and safe handling practices.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Confidence using computers and interacting with automated production or test equipment.
  • Basic familiarity with Python or a similar scripting language, including the ability to run scripts and interpret simple code or error messages.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and effective teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in electrical technology, electronics, mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
  • Experience assembling or testing battery cells, modules, packs, or battery management systems.
  • Familiarity with computer controlled equipment, sensors, barcode scanners, or automated test systems.
  • Experience modifying simple Python scripts for data logging, test support, or basic automation.
  • Familiarity with prototyping, Lean manufacturing, traceability systems, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).

What Success Looks Like

You reliably perform assembly work safely, accurately, and at the required pace. You are comfortable working alongside automated equipment, recognize when something is wrong, and use your technical skills to help keep production running smoothly. You value both the consistency of daily production work and opportunities to contribute to practical process improvements.
