About the role

This position allows for 3 days per week remote / work from home.

Salary: $100,000 - 130,000/year

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Electrical Design Engineer with around 3 years of hands-on experience to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in the complete hardware development lifecycle—from initial architectural concepts and schematic capture to complex PCB layout, prototyping, and lab bring-up.

The ideal candidate possesses strong core electrical engineering fundamentals, demonstrated proficiency with Altium Designer, and a track record of taking multi-layer board designs from concept through successful production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout complex, multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer, ensuring compliance with signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and EMC/EMI best practices.
  • Select optimal active/passive components, microcontrollers, power management ICs, and connectors. Create and maintain Altium schematic symbol and PCB footprint libraries adhering to IPC standards.
  • Board bring-up, debugging, testing, and validation of prototype hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and multimeter equipment.
  • Collaborate with external PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers (CMs) to produce manufacturing deliverables (Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, BOMs, assembly drawings) and resolve fabrication queries.
  • Design low-power DC-DC converters, linear regulators, mixed-signal circuits, and high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN).
  • Lead and participate in peer design reviews (schematic and PCB layout). Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering (BSCE), or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in hardware development and PCB design.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Altium Designer (schematic capture, PCB layout, layer stackup configuration, rules/constraints, and manufacturing output generation).
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment for board debugging, signal validation, and surface-mount soldering/rework (SMD components down to 0402/0201 packages).
  • Strong understanding of standard embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN).
