About the role

We’re looking for an Engineer to join our Data Engineering Infrastructure group, building and scaling the storage and data platforms behind a high-frequency trading operation. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes working near the hardware: running large open-source and enterprise storage systems, tuning Linux for performance, and automating infrastructure. As data volumes keep growing, you’ll be central to keeping the platform fast, resilient and scalable.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build, deploy and run large-scale storage infrastructure across Hadoop, enterprise storage and S3-compatible systems
  • Optimize Linux systems for I/O throughput and general performance
  • Automate deployment and configuration with Ansible, Puppet or similar tools
  • Add observability to the platform using Prometheus and associated tooling
  • Work with engineering teams to deliver robust data solutions, especially around storage and Kafka
  • Some exposure to Kubernetes

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years in systems engineering, with a strong emphasis on data storage
  • Solid Linux fundamentals and debugging ability, including I/O performance tuning
  • Practical experience using Ansible and Puppet for automation and config management
  • Knowledge of open-source, S3 API-compatible and enterprise storage technologies
  • Working understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem, including YARN
  • Java and Python experience
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude) in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Prometheus monitoring and alerting
