About the role

We're hiring new CDL-A drivers who live in Port Arthur, Nederland, Groves, Port Neches and Beaumont. If you already carry a TWIC card from the plants or the port, that's a plus. It's not required.

Your first weeks

Orientation lasts no more than 2 days. Your lodging is covered, your bus ticket is reimbursed, and you're paid $300 once hired. Then you drive 3 to 5 weeks with a mentor, about 200–250 hours, and get $850 a week while you learn the job.

Your week after that

You run a regional fleet based in Houston. Most of the freight stays in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee, with some loads into Alabama, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. Weekly miles land between 1,700 and 2,000. Loads are a mix of drop and hook, preloads and live loads. Because the fleet stays close to the Gulf, it can often route you back through the house. You're home every 2 weeks.

Your pay

  • $1,100–$1,300 average per week ($57,200–$67,600 a year)
  • $1,000 weekly minimum for 3 months after your first solo dispatch
  • A bonus paid on miles, fuel and safety
  • $15 for each extra stop, beyond the first and last
  • Layover and detention pay
  • Weekly direct deposit

Your truck

A Freightliner about 1.5 years old on average, automatic or 10-speed, assigned to you. Most trucks have an APU or inverter. EZ-Pass and PrePass are provided.

Benefits after 30 days

Medical, dental, vision and prescription plans you build to fit your family. 401(k), stock purchase, life and disability. Paid vacation. A tuition-free online degree for you and one dependent.

Riders and pets

An approved adult rider can come along. One dog under 40 lbs is allowed after training.

What you need

  • Class A CDL, 21 or older
  • New CDL grad or recent experience
  • No more than 2 moving violations in 2 years
  • No DUI/DWI in 10 years
  • DOT physical, hair and urine drug test

Why drivers pick this fleet

  • Paid training with a mentor
  • A regional fleet that keeps you close to the Gulf Coast
  • A weekly minimum while you get started
