About the role
A leading national provider of commercial landscaping and property-maintenance services is seeking a motivated Business Developer to build new commercial business throughout Omaha and Lincoln, with the potential to expand into surrounding markets over time.
Although this position is supported by the company’s Kansas City operations team, the Business Developer will be based within the territory and spend most of the week meeting prospects, visiting properties, networking, and developing local relationships.
This is a full-cycle, new-business sales position focused on recurring commercial landscape-maintenance and snow-removal contracts. This is not a landscape-installation or construction-sales role.
What You’ll Do
- Build the company’s commercial customer base throughout Omaha and Lincoln.
- Prospect for and secure new recurring landscape-maintenance and snow-removal contracts.
- Develop relationships with property managers, facility leaders, building owners, developers, HOA leaders, and commercial real-estate professionals.
- Visit commercial properties to identify landscaping needs, service challenges, and new opportunities.
- Manage the sales process from prospecting and discovery through site walks, proposals, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Use consultative selling techniques to develop solutions based on each customer’s property, budget, and service expectations.
- Independently build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Meet activity, pipeline, revenue, and gross-profit goals.
- Maintain accurate records and forecasts in Salesforce.
- Partner closely with Kansas City leadership and operations to develop proposals and transition new customers successfully.
- Attend networking events and build relationships through local commercial-property organizations.
- Occasionally travel to the Kansas City branch for meetings, training, and operational coordination.
What We’re Looking For
- Three to five years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably involving commercial contracts or recurring services.
- A proven record of new-business development, prospecting, and territory growth.
- Experience selling to commercial decision-makers at the mid-to-senior level.
- Strong consultative discovery, presentation, negotiation, and closing abilities.
- The independence and discipline to develop a largely greenfield territory.
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities across a broad geographic market.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform.
- Local knowledge and established relationships in Omaha, Lincoln, or the surrounding market are strongly preferred.
- Experience in landscaping, equipment rental, facility services, property management, construction, or another commercial-service industry is helpful but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the territory.
Work Environment
This is a remote and field-based sales position, not a traditional work-from-home role. The Business Developer will spend the majority of the week traveling throughout Omaha and Lincoln to meet prospects, visit commercial properties, conduct site walks, and attend networking events.
The remaining time may be spent working remotely on prospecting, follow-up, proposals, scheduling, forecasting, and CRM management. Occasional travel to the Kansas City branch will be required.
A detailed compensation ramp, sales targets, and benefits package will be reviewed during the interview process. The company is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.
