Assembly Technician

**Location: **Melbourne, FL · On-site

**Department: **Manufacturing

**Employment type: **Full-time

About Us

Autonomous systems will reshape society over the next decade, and every one of them depends on the hardware that makes it move. Talos Devices is the Tier 1 provider of propulsion, actuation, and power-generation devices for the age of autonomy. We build brushless DC motors, turbines, and two-stroke engines for multirotor drones, fixed-wing aircraft, and robotic platforms, serving everyone from hobbyist builders to defense programs.

Our edge is manufacturing and distribution excellence: quality at scale and at low cost, powered by advanced manufacturing and a sovereign supply chain.

Job Purpose

The Assembly Technician builds units at a mobile workstation on the Melbourne, FL site's line to released work instructions and standard time. The work is manual, repeatable electromechanical assembly with torque, potting and cure, burn-in and final-pack stations, on a benchtop-sized product that is a one-person lift. Reporting to a Production Supervisor, the Assembly Technician works on the direct-labor line alongside test, materials and quality staff. Assembly Technicians are measured on performance to the standard set by Talos Industrial Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble units to the released work instruction at the assigned station, following the sequence, torque values and quality checks as written.
  • Record build data (unit serial, station, time and test results) in the shop-floor system accurately and in real time.
  • Perform in-station quality checks and stop and call the supervisor on any nonconforming part, tool or instruction, without reworking outside the instruction.
  • Maintain the workstation: 5S, tool condition, current calibration tags and correct kanban bin pulls.
  • Rotate across stations as certified and take part in training and recertification.
  • Follow all safety and ergonomic practices and report hazards and near-misses.
  • Meet the station's performance-to-standard and first-pass yield targets as the line ramps.
Qualifications
  • Manual dexterity and comfort with hand tools, torque drivers and small fasteners.
  • Can read and follow illustrated work instructions.
  • Able to use basic measurement tools such as calipers and go/no-go gauges.
  • Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 35 lb.
  • Reliable attendance; able to work to a takt.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to stop the line when something is wrong.
  • Comfortable entering data on a tablet or scanner.
  • Able to work first shift and move to second shift as the operation grows.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year in electromechanical, electronics or precision assembly.
  • Tablet- or MES-guided work instruction experience.
  • Soldering, wiring or potting experience.
